GEO (generative engine optimization)

Definition

GEO is the work of getting a site to appear and be cited in AI assistant answers, such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI features.

According to Google, no special files or markup are needed for its AI features: the same SEO practices apply, such as clear, crawlable content with structured data that matches the page.

What helps most is answering directly with verifiable facts: a sentence that says what the product is and what it is for can be quoted on its own. We explain it in how to write product descriptions that sell.
