Structured data

Definition

Structured data is information a page provides in a format machines can read without interpreting the text: name, brand, price, availability, reviews.

Google uses it to understand the page and show rich results, such as the price or stars next to the link. The most common vocabulary is Schema.org, and the format Google recommends is JSON-LD.

The golden rule: what the structured data says must match what is visible on the page. We explain it in how to write product descriptions that sell.
