Video transcript
In this video, you'll save a way of looking at your catalog, so you don't redo it every time.
Set the filters you use every day: here, Hilo Fino's clothing that's still incomplete.
In “Views”, “Save the current view” gives a name to that way of looking at the catalog.
It starts private; if you share it with the organization, it shows up in everyone's menu.
The button tells you which view is on.
To come back to it, open it from the same menu: one click and the screen is just as you left it.
If you change a filter, the button goes back to “Views” and offers to update the one you had.
The grid is where it saves you the most: the view also keeps the columns and the language.
The grid starts empty; with the view, columns and rows arrive in a single click.
In the next video, you'll see what changed in a product and how to go back.
What a view is
A view is the screen's address with a name. It saves what you have set — the search, the status, «Incomplete», the sort order, and in the grid also the columns and the language — and applying it takes you back to that same screen in one click.
- It doesn't save products: it saves the way you look at them. If the catalog changes, the view shows what's new.
- It doesn't save the page you were on: a view always opens on the first one.
- It doesn't save what you had selected with the checkboxes either. That belongs to the moment, not to the view.
Saving and applying
Set the filters you want and open the «Views» menu in the catalog bar. «Save the current view…» asks for a name and leaves it ready. With no filters set there is nothing to save, and the menu says so.
To come back to it, open it from the same menu. When the screen matches a view, the button says so: «Views: To complete». If you move a filter, the button goes back to «Views» and the menu offers to update the one you came with.
The grid is where it saves the most
The grid starts empty: you have to pick the columns on every visit. A saved view brings the columns, the language and the filters in a single navigation, so «my sizes sheet in English» stops being a chore.
Private or organization-wide
A view starts private: only you see it. When saving it you can tick «Share with the organization» and then it shows up in everyone's menu.
- Yours appear under «My views»; the ones shared by other people, under «Shared with the organization», with the email of whoever made it.
- Any member can create and share views.
- Changing or removing a shared view can be done by its creator or an administrator. Someone else's private views are neither visible nor editable, whatever the role.
Changing, sharing and removing
With a view applied, the menu offers to update it with the filters you have now, to share it or stop sharing it, and to remove it. Removing asks for confirmation: it is not deleted on the first click. If you use a name you already have, the screen offers to replace that view instead of creating a duplicate.
What to expect
- The name takes up to 80 characters and cannot repeat among your views for the same screen.
- Each organization can have up to 100 saved views, counting the whole team's.
- If a view pointed at a column you deleted or a person who left the organization, that part simply stops filtering. The view still opens.
